SHS vs CHS
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope everyone's holiday was restful and full of carbo loading for Saturday's first meet! I for one, am excited to get the season underway and show MCPS and beyond how great this team will be!
Sherwood vs Churchill:
As I said, our first meet is this Saturday at Olney Swim Center. Our meet window is 11:30am-1:30pm. PLEASE ARRIVE BY 11:15AM AT THE LATEST! This meet is a scrimmage which means we can tweak the events a bit. We decided to add more heats of 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back and 100 Breast. This is a way to get more athletes into the meet.
I tried my very best to get everyone in at least one event (relay or individual). Many athletes will not be swimming their best events…that is on purpose. Many athletes will be swimming in tough events…That too is on purpose. If I put you in an event I believe you are ready for it.
I have attached the lineup by event and by athlete for your conveinience. If you cannot attend and are in the meet, just let me know and I will make a correction.
Divers:
We are slated to have 7 divers (4 Girls, 3 Boys) competing on Saturday. I was able to get some Divers dive sheets on Tuesday morning. For those that did not grab one, I have attached a paper copy in this message. Please print it out and bring it on Saturday. All divers should plan to complete two dives. If you are interested in showcasing a third dive, please put it on your dive sheet.
Jobs:
Thank you to all the parents who already signed up to volunteer on Saturday. We are still in need of a few parent volunteers for Saturday. Check out the sign up link here and please pitch in if you are available. At the very least you get front row seats to all the magic!
Season Goals:
I am very excited about this team. We have a lot of depth, a lot of fast and talented newcomers, in addition to huge drops from our athletes from last year! We are looking very strong on both our Boys and Girls side. I always make it a point to communicate my goals for the team each year. This year, we will:
- Finish with a winning record in our Division for Boys and Girls.
- Both Boys and Girls will win our Region (4A North).
- Boys and Girls will place in the top 7 at States.
- Have all relays final at METROS.
- Have 10+ finalists at METROS.
The season is long! We should not expect to be at our best right now. But if we get better everyday we practice, come the season's end we will be in reach of those goals.
This is optional, I have attached a ¨Goal Sheet” above. Feel free to fill it out just at the very least you are creating your ¨why¨, your reason to be a part of the Sherwood Warriors Swim and Dive crew.
See you Staurday!
